The tomato-productivity numbers for different trellis systems was from a different speaker. The farmer who spoke about his fence-trellis is making a decent living as a farmer, so it must be good enough. He showed us the "tape-en-er" that he uses to tie up branches to the fence, and he said that it had really sped up that process, and the whole shebang was relatively easy to take down at the end of the season.
